Feed Your Brain - Pick Up Your Mood With Food

Resource: Today's Charlotte Woman Magazine

According to researchers, food has long been assoicated with mood behavior patterns. It's suggested that monounsaturated fatty acids in olive oil (used in Mediterranean Diet) may be connected to a lower risk of severe depression symptons. Also, Archives of General Psychiatry suggest that people who follow a traditional Mediterranean Diet rich in foods such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, olive oil and fish are 30 percent less likely to develop depression. Mediterranean Diet can reduce health risks associated with diabetes, asathma, and cancer.

Other Resource: In Chapter 10, page 405, it says, depression is influenced by negative life events. Men who are masculine and women who are feminine in their gender roles experience a significant increase in "Depression" when they are expose to an increase number of life events.
